She prepares herself for the day
She prides herself to the fact she doesn’t have to paint her face
To hide her scars
For they come from a darker place
They are hidden away
like the lies she’s forced to face everyday
Portraying a sense of happiness
To keep the smile on her face
His face
Her children’s face
To the world it’s best to pretend like everything is okay
Who can understand the darkness she must face everyday?
Those tiny voices trying to sway life’s choices everyday
If we keep pretending
Be stronger than them, maybe they will go away
Opening your mouth to speak
They say the truth will set you free
Then you get judge for eternity
So you show the side that’s sweet
And every now and then you let the little devil out to breathe
The monster you control inside can be so ugly
Wrapped up with your outer beauty.
The masks we wear can hinder our progress. Beautiful and poignant post.
